FOUNDER · PRESIDENT & CEO
In 2005, Willies “KC” Bowick founded the Tampa Bay Black Chamber of Commerce with a conviction that remains central to its work: strong businesses help build strong communities.
Known to friends and family as “KC,” Mr. Bowick has devoted decades to community advocacy and to expanding economic opportunity for Black-owned and minority-owned businesses. His leadership created a place where entrepreneurs, civic leaders, corporations, and community partners could build relationships with purpose.
“Learning from the Past to Create the Future.”
That guiding belief connects the Chamber's economic mission to mentorship, youth development, neighborhood improvement, senior sustainability, entrepreneurship education, and practical business support.
A life rooted in service
Mr. Bowick spent his primary school years in the Hillsborough County Public School System and graduated from Enterprise High School in Enterprise, Alabama. His public biography notes additional study at Columbus and Tennessee universities.
His civic service has included work with the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials, economic-development and land committees, and the Falkenburg Academic Advisory Board. Faith and service have also been important parts of his life, including many years with St. Peter Claver Catholic Church.
A regional platform begins with economic empowerment, sustainability, and entrepreneurship at its core.
Programs, gatherings, mentorship, and partnerships connect business ambition to practical community support.
The Chamber continues building on Mr. Bowick's founding vision by preparing businesses, opening pathways, and strengthening relationships across Tampa Bay.
